Garbage Bag Technique
Have the child illustrate on a brown paper bag along with the therapist doing the same.  While illustrating, the therapist talks about what garbage is all about, and then  uses that metaphor to help the child write six pieces of his or her own personal "garbage" (3 from home and 3 from school) to put into the bag.  These will be used at future sessions.  The therapist puts six pieces of garbage in his/her own personal bag as well, which all realte to the child"s issues.  Each week, the child will pick a piece of "garbage" to act out and resolve the problem either through role play or miniatures.
